From Befriending Schemes to Community Cafés!

We will try  to help with the formation of any scheme that will get people together and help reduce isolation. We currently support 2 Book Cafés, 2 Befriending Schemes, a Community Café and a Craft Group, but are happy to investigate and encourage any theme for a scheme.

Imagine being unable to get out of the house - no friends or family close by, with only the television or radio for company. A befriending scheme can really help to combat loneliness, and make the day more cheerful.

Book and Community Cafés are a great way to bring people together; groups can use them as meeting places, those newly retired or new to the area can use them to get to know the people and local area.

Book Cafés can provide Local Computer Hubs, small scale computer training and support, storytelling, where young and old can mix in a pleasant environment – with, of course, books and a drink.

A Community Café provides a village hub for old friends to meet and new friendships to be formed in a relaxed environment, close to home eliminating the need to try and find transport into town.
